Statement on Chaka Fattah Resignation

Today our Chairman, Joe DeFelice, released the following statement on the resignation of Congressman Chaka Fattah:

"This afternoon Congressman Chaka Fattah submitted his resignation from the United States Congress.  We were prepared to thank him for doing the honorable thing, however upon further review it appears that his resignation will come after 3.5 months  from now, the day before his sentencing on corruption charges, thereby ensuring he can collect a paycheck while continuing to nothing to benefit his constituents.  Unfortunately this type of behavior has been commonplace in the Commonwealth and in the City whether it is Attorney General Kathleen Kane or State Rep Vanessa Brown.  This whole episode has been a stain on the City of Philadelphia and hopefully he will end this charade sooner rather than later to save the City from any further embarrassment."
